Last night was the 2012 MTV Movie Awards and while celebs competed for the movie trophies, the red carpet was where they really heated up the competition. Airing live from the Gibson Amphitheatre some highlight looks included Twilight’s leading lady and the star of Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart, who looked fun and dazzling in a silver Guishem dress with yellow and black accents. Her co-star, Charlize Theron also looked award winning in a Lanvin bright red dress. There was also some gorgeous abandonment of dresses in favor of sexy and head turning jumpsuits. Darion and I made our way to Las Vegas, NV early yesterday afternoon so that we could see Garbage in concert for the 4th time this week (yes, yes … a bit crazy, I know). To be honest, LV isn’t really my scene but I will happily make the trek into the desert to see my fave bands in concert. Only folks like Nine Inch Nails, Kylie Minogue and Garbage can ensure that I’ll make the trip. We spent our afternoon hanging out in the Forum Shops at Caesar’s Palace and then it was TIME TO ROCK with Garbage! As usual, I managed to get some fun photos … which you can check out below.

Once again, Garbage changed up the setlist a bit and they sounded really fucking fantastic in the Pearl Theater at the Palms Hotel and Casino. I really love that venue because it’s big but not too big. The sound is big and they have jumbotrons — the better to see Shirley Manson even more close up than close up. I can’t even tell you how much fun Darion and I have had with the band in the last week. We’ve enjoyed personal interactions with the band and Shirley especially that mean so much to the both of us. Alas, this is our last show for a while. The band are heading farther East and then will be playing festivals in Europe before they return to SoCal in June (and beyond?). I’m certain the band will do more West Coast dates on the second leg of the tour so D and I are looking forward to more Garbage shows hopefully soon. For now, we can still look forward to the release of the band’s new album Not Your Kind of People, which hits stores on May 15. People, if Garbage are coming anywhere in your vague vicinity, you MUST see them LIVE in concert. Trust me … you will have the time of your LIFE!

Darion and I will be flying back to LA later today … but not before we enjoy a wee bit more of what Sin City has to offer. Here is just a sampling of some of the fabulous culture that exists here in LV:

I am happy to report that for the first time ever, David and I will be spending Xmas together. Yes, in the almost 5 years that we have been together, we have never been able to spend Xmas together because one or both of us jetted off across the country to be with our parents. Thru a series of circumstances, David decided to stay here in LA with me … and we are very much looking forward to spending our first Xmas together.

We spent part of our evening yesterday picking out decorations for the tiny little Xmas tree we bought. My hope is that we will buy special new ornaments for our tree as the years progress and as our trees get larger. To be honest, we aren’t planning anything lavish for our Xmas night together … but we are looking forward to spending some time celebrating the season as a couple ;)

Last night, I made my way out to the Troubadour in West Hollywood, CA to see the amazing trip hop artist Tricky in concert:

I’ve been a fan of Tricky for years and have seen him a few times before in concert. He did not disappoint. His gravelly voice was in fine form last night and the sold out house just loved every second he was on stage. Unfortch, he decided to keep the lights down real low so I wasn’t able to snap any photos … but the show was fantastic. Last night’s concert was my last show of 2010 … not a bad way to end a year of great shows, let me tell you.

Today … more Xmas prep … I wanna run out and get some stockings and candy canes … you know, the usual. I hope your Xmas prep is going well … since it’s the night before the night before Xmas, we are all running out of time ;)

Late yesterday afternoon I met up with my homegirl Ollie for a quick run around the Silverlake Reservoir here in LA. I’m not sure what the Hell I was expecting but … the route turned out to be much more strenuous than I had anticipated. Because we had committed to running 2 loops around the reservoir (a little over 4 miles), we made sure to complete our task … but it was not easy … not at all.

I was really unprepared for the steep hilliness that would be involved in the run … as a result, I gassed out way too early in my run. I started to get ankle pain and then knee pain in my left leg so … I had to walk some of the way. I know it’s not a failure to walk but, I dunno, I guess I had my heart set on a solid 4 mile run. I’ll be better prepared for the reservoir the next time … and there will be a next time. After our run, Ollie and I stuffed our mugs at Pho Cafe … and it was DELISH! My 5K training schedule has me resting today and tomorrow but … I’m going to run a few miles today at the gym to keep my legs fresh and to mentally get over my crappy run yesterday. I’m taking tomorrow off for sure tho … I want to be ready for the Hollywood 5K Race Saturday morning :)

Tonight, Adriana and I have a dinner/movie date. We’ll be having delicious Mexican and then will be seeing American Reunion at the ArcLight. It should be fun … but first … I must run. I cannot believe this is my life now. As much as the running isn’t the most pleasurable thing, I do look forward to it … almost on a daily basis. Who knows, maybe I’ll be ready to tackle a full on marathon shortly after my half-marathon in September ;)

OK, so I didn’t win the Mega Millions $640 million dollar jackpot last night but my Friday was still pretty sweet. After much deliberation, I decided to bite the bullet and join the gym. I know, I know … those of you who know me are having a hard time believing it but … it’s true. Last night, David’s sister Lara arrived from Connecticut for the weekend. She is heading down to San Diego for a conference and decided to swing thru LA to say hello. I may not be a mega millionaire but, life is pretty good.

So, per my 5K training schedule, I ran 3 miles yesterday (on the treadmill with a 2% incline) and then was so jazzed after my run, I decided to walk a rigorous 25 min. “hiking trail” walk afterward. On my way out of the gym, I went and signed up. So … I’m officially a health nut … or something.

David and I took Lara to one of our fave restaurants last night, Night + Market:

We pretty much ate our faces off and caught up with one another. Being the crazy partiers we are, we came home, watched some eps of Sex and the City and promptly went to bed. Crazy, I tell you.

Today, I’m going to my first yoga class, then I need to walk for another 60 mins. then … who knows. David and Lara will be heading down to SD later today, I will be flying solo here in LA. Happy Weekend. Oh and if someone could turn on the sun, I’d be really appreciative :)

Just recently I've become hooked on Jamie Cullum. I mean, what's not to love? He's a jazzy, poppy, bluesy dude who covers everyone from Rihanna to Jeff Buckley and he also covers old standards such as "I Only Have Eyes For You" and "I Get a Kick Out of You." But he's not just your standard cover artist. His original songs hold their own. He sings, plays piano and guitar and sometimes provides his own beat on the drums. They've certainly gotten better over the years, but almost everyone knows someone who got in trouble with an employer or was fired for something that ended up on Facebook.

Well, ever since stories have been coming out about potential employers actually asking job applicants to give them their Facebook passwords, the social networking giant has decided to take action.

They've just posted on their blog, saying:

"In recent months, we’ve seen a distressing increase in reports of employers or others seeking to gain inappropriate access to people’s Facebook profiles or private information. This practice undermines the privacy expectations and the security of both the user and the user’s friends."

They even went as far as to basically tell U to tell employers to "stick it" if they ask for your password.

"If you are a Facebook user, you should never have to share your password, let anyone access your account, or do anything that might jeopardize the security of your account or violate the privacy of your friends.

As a user, you shouldn’t be forced to share your private information and communications just to get a job. And as the friend of a user, you shouldn’t have to worry that your private information or communications will be revealed to someone you don’t know and didn’t intend to share with just because that user is looking for a job. That’s why we’ve made it a violation of Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities to share or solicit a Facebook password."

Yesterday was a pretty quiet yet eventful day. I got my workout run done early so that I could make my haircut appointment and chop off all of my hair. Then, last night, I met up with Ollie, Caleb, Tam and Rob for some pre-birthday drinks in celebration of Caleb’s birthday tomorrow. It was kind of go go go for me yesterday but not at all too hectic.

As far as Thursdays go, yesterday was a pretty good one. My workout felt great, I head is newly shorn and I got to spend good quality time with some of my favorite people. Tonight, David and I will be seeing The Hunger Games so I’m looking forward to that. I loved the film so much the first time I saw it that I cannot WAIT to see it again tonight :)

It’s a cloudy and cool day today … since I’m not running, I’m thinking about going for a hike. HMMM. It’s Friday, y’all. Happy Weekend!

Yesterday we saw the first photos of actress AnnaSophia Robb on the NYC, NY set of the new CW TV series The Carrie Diaries (which is a prequel series based on the teenage life of the Sex and the City character Carrie Bradshaw). Today we get our first look at the first OFFICIAL promo photo of AnnaSophia as Carrie Bradshaw. The photos we saw yesterday are of the young actress on set, in between takes and only half in costume. Click below to see the young Carrie Bradshaw in all her youthful stylish glory.

My guess is that producers were a bit chagrined that those photos from The Carrie Diaries set hit the Internets yesterday because that is not how they likely wanted the world to be introduced to the young Carrie Bradshaw. This promo photo is really cute, really more indicative of what the character will look like in the series (I am LOVING the shoes!!!). I’m still not sure how I feel about The Carrie Diaries as a TV series but I love the Carrie Bradshaw character so much, I’m willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. AnnaSophia makes a really cute Carrie, I think. I love this photo … do you?

Yesterday, we showed you a one minute teaser clip of Ridley Scott's Prometheus, but today, we have the FULL-LENGTH trailer in all its sci-fi glory.

After debuting the preview at WonderCon this weekend, we find out that the movie follows the Prometheus spaceship crew in the year 2085. They eventually "discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race."

WHAAA!!! Holy shiz.

So, even though the movie was originally conceived as a prequel to Alien, it eventually developed into a whole separate story on its own.

And good news! Scott already mentioned that a sequel is on the horizon at yesterday's panel.

An up-and-coming, but relatively unknown Canadian singer, Carly Rae Jepsen got a big dose of publicity when the two young starlets made a home music video of her single, “Call Me Maybe.” The fun vid also features Ashley Tisdale, her new boyfriend, Martin Johnson, Sammy Droke, “Kickin’ It” star Mateo Arias and Big Time Rush’s Logan Henderson, Kendall Schmidt and Carlos Pena. Once the home video hit YouTube, it was out there, and a new musician’s name! The song is really quite catchy and got picked up by Bieb’s manager after he made the video. It is also just super cute to see the gang goofing around and having a blast. Check out the new song and the troop’s little home video. Love it!

Carly Rae sure must have been stoked when she saw her celebrity “friends” enjoying her music. The song is definitely catchy and after I watched the video I couldn’t stop singing it! Carly has had some success in Canada, but on the whole she is pretty unknown. Now that it has some star powered backing, maybe it will actually rise up the charts. Apparently, Biebs heard her song on a Canadian radio station and thought it was great and now his manager, Scooter Braun, has signed her to his label, Schoolboy Records. So, in essence, Biebs and Selena can take credit for propelling Carly’s career.

Elizabeth Smart Marries Matthew Gilmour In Hawaii

Elizabeth Smart, who at 14 years of age was kidnapped and held for nine months by traveling preacher Brian David Mitchell, married her fiance, Matthew Gilmour, in Hawaii Saturday. It was announced last month that Smart was engaged to the Scotsman and their wedding reportedly was set to take place this summer. In an effort to keep their wedding free of paparazzi and the like, their wedding date was moved up so as to keep their nuptials private. A family spokesman explained: “Elizabeth’s desire was for what most women want — to celebrate her nuptials in a private wedding with family and close friends. She decided, about a week ago, the best way to avoid significant distraction was to change her wedding plans and to get married in an unscheduled ceremony outside of Utah.” The spokesman went on to say that the couple were beaming as they left the Laie Hawaii Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints following their wedding, and they exchanged their “I do’s” in front of family and a few friends.
