Since the birth of hip hop, mixtapes have been around to help artists get their work quickly and effectively onto the streets and into the music scene. DJs and rappers, like Sheek Louch, are now releasing them quickly, causing the market to be extremely expansive-- one could even find Lil' Wayne or Sheek Louch mixtapes in their entirety right on the internet. The meaning of the word 'mixtape' was much different in the '70's when it first came about.
